The Global Water philosophy is based upon the concept that the lack of safe drinking water and lack of access to sanitation facilities are root causes of disease, hunger and poverty throughout the developing world today.
Global Water is a volunteer-based international, non-profit humanitarian organization focused on providing safe water supplies, sanitation and hygiene facilities for rural villagers in developing countries.
Global Water is focused on countries in Central America and Africa. In Central America, we work primarily in Guatemala and Nicaragua, two countries where the rural poor have been ignored for ever. Simple systems are always most sustainable, so Global Water develops spring capture, gravity-flow water supply systems for rural villages, as well as rain harvesting systems.
In Africa, Global Water works with NGOs operating in several countries, including the Namibia/Angola region, Tanzania/Uganda region, Nigeria, and Kenya. Here, these water systems are based on rain catchment and drilled wells.
Global Water’s projects have an immediate life-changing impact, particularly on women and children, who most often have the responsibility of collecting water for the family each day of their lives. Successful Global Water projects utilize water and sanitation projects as a tool to create sustainable socioeconomic development in these poor rural communities.
Since Global Water is a volunteer-based organization, all money donated goes directly into water projects in the developing countries themselves.
